Page settings explained
| Setting | Choose this when |
|---|---|
| A4 / US Letter / Legal | The PDF may be printed, or a form asks for a standard page size |
| Same as image | You want each page exactly the size of its photo, with no white borders |
| Automatic orientation | Mixed portrait and landscape photos; each page turns to fit its image |
| Small or large margin | Printing, or a cleaner look for documents |
Quality and file size
JPG and PNG files are embedded without re-compression whenever possible, so the PDF looks exactly like your photos. Phone photos are large, though: ten 4 MB photos make a PDF of about 40 MB. If you need a smaller file for email, shrink the images first with Compress Image, or compress the finished PDF with Compress PDF.
iPhone HEIC photos are converted automatically, and EXIF rotation is respected so pictures are the right way up.
Private
Your images are combined in your browser and never uploaded, which matters when the photos show passports, bank cards or medical papers.
Frequently asked questions
Will my photos lose quality?
JPG and PNG images are placed in the PDF unchanged whenever possible, so quality is kept. Other formats, and photos that need rotating, are converted at high quality first.
Why are my phone photos the right way up?
Phones store rotation as a hidden tag. The tool reads that tag and turns the image correctly before adding it, so photos do not end up sideways.
How do I make a PDF from scanned documents?
Photograph or scan each page, select all the images, put them in order and choose A4 or Letter with a small margin. The result is a multi-page PDF ready to email.
Is there a limit on the number of images?
No fixed limit. Very large batches of full-resolution photos need more memory, so on a phone convert them in smaller groups.
